Excavation and layering 2018
Over the years I have saved paper scraps and printing proofs, for the purpose of recycling them. The dream of working with pulp has been alive for decades, and now finally the bricks fall into place. Meanwhile I have collected quite a pile of good quality cotton rag paper. One pile of whites, one with warm white, one with white paper and black print, another with mixed colors printed on etc etc. Some are beaten down to fibers, while others are big enough to carry pieces of prints.
I have been mixing cotton pulp with kozo, and I have been drawing with longer kozo fibres. Finally I have transferred the soft paper to lino plates, picking up the relief. Some of the pieces are made with layer upon layer, before I start digging back into the soft pulp, uncovering the colors hidden in the stack.
