Birth
Collecting stuff has been a lifestylee. Precious things for me – like a piece of cloth, my doll´s face, wind up toys, or my grandmothers crocheting needle. These things are triggers, lifting memories out of the subconscious mind. They bring together the voices living inside, the child and the mother, and we start to play. Playing, having fun, make us courageous and adventurous. As we cross the boarders of time and space our imagination is set free.
The stories are like dreams, partly logical, before dissolving into something totally different.
I started out building little stages, which I illuminated and photographed. Following the pictures I wrote the story, which also is presented in a book with the same title. It starts like this:
The Dream! – it is all like a dream – dissolving at the very moment you think you have grasped it. Confused you stand there, left behind as the dream continues its journey – twisting and circling – uniting and spreading. All dreams started way back in time, actually before time – when there was no past, no future. Through long searches, and with help from trusted friends, I have been able to unwind the history of the dream. I have seen it connect generations to generations, spread its message from culture to culture. Adjusting to the setting, it has made its way under peoples skin, right into their souls. All the time – the same dream!
From the dream you had last night you can follow the silver thread back to its origin, to the dream above all dreams, the dream of Innocence. We all carry it in our heart.
Life
The series “Searching for Innocence” was started in 2005, and I still keep it alive. Innocence is the child within who got lost when the gates to Eden were closed behind Eva and Adam. To search the world for her is a difficult and dangerous expedition. There will always be people claiming they are Innocence, covering their real identity and intentions behind her.
