“Bird´s-eye view”
Triptyk: (2 x 3) meters. Pulp painting of dbl. layered kozo mounted on plywood.
The title is referring to my approach, looking down on, and walking around the vat placed on the floor while working. Made during my stay as visiting artist at Awagami Factory, Japan.
The A brand-new 44.000 square meter building includes a high school for vocational subjects and a sub-urban culture house and library. This was the first time using my pulppaintings for a public commission, a possibility I had been waiting for. My artworks are spread over three different areas on the top floor. I wanted the three independant works to connect to each other, each of them approaching the given themes “Art as identity and communication” from different angels. The panorama views opening up the corridors, is a perfect backdrop for the artworks.
